Our Coaches

We are blessed with wonderful coaches every year. 

Baseball

Tyler Stovall is the founder of Stovall Athletics. While playing at Hokes Bluff High School, Stovall was Louisville Slugger's National Pitcher of the Year, Gatorade Player of the Year, and Alabama's Mr. Baseball. Stovall was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 2008 MLB Draft as their 2nd overall pick and played 6 years of professional baseball. He is living out his passion for helping young athletes reach their maximum potential in sports through Stovall Athletics.

Boys Basketball

Chandler Litchford started his basketball career from 2009-2011 at Guntersville High. Coach Litchford began playing college basketball at Snead State but decided to turn down his scholarship to finish his degree. He has served as the Guntersville Jr. High head basketball coach. He graduated from JSU with a degree in physical education.

Girls Basketball

Adam Lawrence has been the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Douglas High School for the past two seasons. He is a math teacher at the school and also the FCA sponsor. He is a 2002 graduate of Sylvania High School and a 2012 graduate of Jacksonville State University. This year marks his 12th year of coaching and 9th year of teaching. He is married to Ashley Lawrence. They have twin daughters, Abigail and Addison.

Cheer

Erica Ball has been coaching for 10 years. She is the Varsity and Competition Cheer Coach at Cullman High School. Coach Ball was very blessed to watch her team win their tenth AHSAA State Championship title during the 2017-2018 year. Coach Ball and her husband were children’s pastors for 10 years. She loves combining her love for Jesus with her love for cheerleading!  

Football

Keith Davis graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Business Finance, during which he held the football team’s highest grade point average. While playing football at USC, he was the team's leading tackler and an All-Conference player. He was also selected to the All-American Strength Team, and played in one of college football's biggest and most exciting games, The Rose Bowl. He won 2 Championship Rings. After college, he signed a professional football contract with the New York Giants where he played linebacker. He was one of the strongest players in the nation: standing 6' feet 1" inch tall, weighing 290 pounds, and bench pressing over 515 lbs and leg pressing 1800 lbs. Keith now spends a lot of his time traveling the world speaking to groups of all ages. 

Gymnastics

Kevin Barksdale was a competitive gymnast in Huntsville Alabama for close to 9 years. He also cheered for Snead State. Kevin and his wife, Melanie, founded Peak Performance Tumbling and Cheer in 1999. Together they have taught gymnastics skills to 2-year-olds all the way through college age students for over 20 years.

Karate

Matt Roeder is currently a fourth degree black in U.S. Yoshukai Karate and is one of the instructors at the Albertville Karate Academy. He was an instructor while attending the University of Alabama from 2003 - 2007. As a student and instructor, he was active in the tournament circuit and consistently placed in the top 10 in the association. He also received the Ryu Ken Instructor of the Year award while teaching at the University.

Soccer

Lenny Muckle is the founder and president of YESAC which is now called Ambassadors Pittsburgh. Lenny is a former player of the Pittsburgh Dynamo and Pittsburgh Brazilians. Following his competitive playing, Lenny has coached for over 20 years and holds a USSF National Coaching License.

Softball

Taylor Davis is a three-time All-State selection out of Sparkman HS. She is a 3-time state championship All-Tournament Team honoree. She picked up Super All-State, First-Team All-State and two Second-Team All-State accolades throughout her prep career. She currently plays outfield for Western Kentucky University where she leads the team in batting average. She will serve as summer staff for FCA this year.

Swim

Stephanie Grey spent 14 years as a competitive swimmer - 13 with the Albertville Gator Swim Team and 1 with the Guntersville Wildcat Swim Team. During that time, she was a state qualifier 11 years, medaling multiple times at both district and state swim meets. She broke 8 team records and still holds 7 of them today. Stephanie has several  years of coaching experience and is currently the head coach of the Jacksonville Hurricane Swim Team in Jacksonville, Alabama.

Tennis

Steve Machen was a collegiate player and was a college tennis coach for eighteen years. During his coaching career his team posted six consecutive conference title wins and competed at eight National Tournaments. He is a certified tennis pro through the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). Attendees will need to bring a tennis racquet, towel, wear tennis shoes, and be ready to have a lot of fun while learning a life-long sport.

Volleyball

Virginia Hagood played varsity volleyball for Guntersville High School for 3 years. She competed in State Championships and was named as an All-State Setter her Junior Year. After graduating from Huntingdon College in 2020, she moved back to Guntersville to teach and coach. Virginia coached the Guntersville 7th grade volleyball team the past two years and also helped coach the varsity girls team in their post-season.
